Holidaymakers with a penchant for dancing will want to make sure they book their flights to Cyprus this May, in time for the European Dance Festival.
Taking place in Cyprus throughout the month, more than a dozen dance theatre groups from countries around Europe will compete with local Cypriot dance teams.
The dance festival has been attracting tourists as well as dance participants for two decades now since its conception in 1988.
Each troupe showcases a modern-day dance tradition from their country in addition to an extra component such as "unique choreography or new explorations of movement", World Events Guide reports.
The festival takes place at the Rialto Theatre which is a noted contemporary cultural centre in Cyprus.
Construction of the Rialto Theatre began in 1930. It was built by the Chrysochou brothers after having been designed by the German architect Gunberg.
The Rialto's grand opening was held on March 26th 1933 and at that time it showed films, theatrical and musical performances and carnival dances.
