Flights to: Slovenia

Charter Flights to Slovenia from the UK

Rich in resources, naturally pretty and always peaceful, Slovenia has become very popular since its break from the former Yugoslavia in 1991. No longer the undiscovered, bargain gem that it was, Slovenia still remains a wonderful antidote to much of Europe's crowds and high prices. Many of its cities and towns bear the imprint of the Habsburg Empire and the Venetian Republic, while up in the Julian Alps you would almost think you were in Bravara. The relative affluence of this country on the 'sunny side of the Alps' is immediately apparent.

Ljubljana

Ljubljana most certainly ranks among the smaller European capitals, but we are convinced that many bigger cities could be envious of all that it has. The Castle, which is about a thousand years old, has been under reconstruction for quite a few years now, so that apart from seeing its renovated chapel of St. George, a visit to its high tower is strongly recommended. From the castle you descend into the old part of the city, the quarter between the castle hill and the river Ljubljanica. There is much Baroque architecture and plenty of museums and art galleries so this is the perfect place to go for a weekend if you're after some culture and history.
