Morocco is becoming a very popular holiday resort with tourists and it is no wonder. A very contrasting country, with the Atlantic coastline and the Sahara Desert as well as the snow-capped mountains. Located on the north western tip of Africa, there are many sights and things to do. There are endless places to visit; Marrakech is becoming a popular place to visit at weekends. The cost for a meal out and wine is very cheap - roughly £10 so you are definitely getting value for money when visiting Morocco. There are many markets selling silver jewellery in particular and pottery. There is a good choice of restaurants and with its sunny, warm climate and lovely beaches, along with its diverse landscapes; it is clear why Morocco is the perfect place to go for a break away from it all. Flight time to Morocco is roughly 3 hours 20 minutes.
Agadir
This is Morocco's prime beach resort, with a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach. There are many watersports including windsurfing and also the opportunity to do some shopping in the local souk. There is the chance to play tennis and two golf courses; therefore Agadir has something to suit everyone...even the chance to ride a camel!
Casablanca
Casablanca or 'white houses' as it translates literally, although steeped in exotic history not least due to the legend that the famous film of the same name gave it, is now a modern city and Africa's 2nd largest. The city has big, wide lively boulevards and well kept modern buildings and facilities, however the quaint walled Medina still hints at its past and the area has a good market.
Marrakech
Marrakech is a wonderful, popular city but it still retains much of its original charm - including the old, narrow cobbled streets filled with small shops. There are also many open-air markets to wander round. The local food is worth trying and there are many cafes and restaurants. Worth seeing is the square of Jemaa I-Fna with its crowd of storytellers and musicians. Also the Koutoubia Mosque which is visible from most places in the city. The Menara Gardens is one of the most romantic places to visit, and there are many palaces and gardens erected by Europeans and Americans. Marrakech is the ideal place to visit for a culturally enriching weekend away.
