Goa

Goa's many golden sandy beaches provide a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of Delhi or Jaipur. Fringed with palm trees and brightly coloured fishing boats, Goa is the perfect getaway. With its warm, sunny climate, wonderful food, buzzing nightlife and fascinating markets, Goa offers a diverse mix of cultures - from old colonial to exotic Indian. Shopping in Goa is limited to small stalls and shops and markets, but they sell pretty things to take home such as jewellery, rugs and clothes. Popular resorts in Goa include the busy Baga Beach in northern Goa, with its great beach, huge number of restaurants, shops and vibrant nightlife. Candolim Beach and Calangute are also in northern Goa and provide a more relaxed atmosphere, still with a few shops, restaurants and market stalls and lovely beaches. Bogmallo Beach and Miramar Beach are in central Goa and are more secluded with lovely, quiet beaches and lush greenery. Cavelossim and Arossim are located in southern Goa and are very quiet, peaceful, relaxing areas great for families and couples looking for a beach-based holiday.

Gorakhpur

The district of Gorakhpur in the North of India is located within the state of Uttar Pradesh. It is a land of ancient glory and mysticism, endowed with magnificent monuments and temples One of the most prominent of these temples being Gorakhnath temple, which is situated 4km from Gurakhpur, many tourists and pilgrims visit this site, especially during the month long 'Makar Sangranti Mela' which commences on the 14th January. 51km east of Gurakhpur is Kushinagar an international tourist place closely associated with the legend of Lord Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Gorakhpur city is situated in the basin of two rivers, the geographical shape being that of a bowl. The West of the city is guarded by the cool Rapti river. The city has inviting parks and many theatres.

Trivandrum

Trivandrum is the capital city of Kerala and the town has a history of supporting fine art and culture. A beautiful seaside city built on seven hills, Trivandrum has good shopping areas and a variety of comfortable and reasonably priced hotels. The food is fantastic but nothing like our Indian food in England - dishes are much smaller and mostly served are Balti dishes. The town is busy during the Navaratri, when festivals are held in the Sri Padmanabha Swamy Temple - dedicated to Vishnu : providing a great atmosphere. This colourful town is so culturally rich it is definitely worth spending a few days looking around, but you could also combine your trip with a visit to Kovalam Beach, at the southern edge of the city. It is picturesque with its spectacular view of the blue sea and is great for surfing. There are many specially designed cottages to stay in making it an excellent summer resort. Trivandrum can offer the chance to take in some of India's rich culture but is also close enough to Kovalam Beach, therefore it can provide a relaxing break too.
