Alexandria

Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt and stretches for some 20 miles along the Mediterranean coast. It has an atmosphere that is more Mediterranean than Middle East, with less extremes in temperature and miles of smooth sandy beaches. Alexandria is an important industrial town and port. In ancient times the city was famous for its lighthouse one of the ancient wonders of the world and its library which was the largest at the time. In modern times ongoing maritime archaeology in the harbour hopes to reveal more details about its past. Alexandria is a charming city and the modern revival of the ancient library is a huge international project.

Hurghada

This region is one of Egypt's best-loved holiday resorts. It is situated on the Red Sea Riviera and is bake by desert sands, making the location truly idyllic. There are many opportunities for watersports including diving in the coral reefs, windsurfing, snorkelling, deep-sea fishing and even trips in glass bottomed boats to see the beautiful fish. There are many markets to visit during the day or you could simply soak up the sun on the lovely beach. El Gouna is a lively, modern resort built on islands and surrounded b lagoons making it a very picturesque location. Luxor

Marsa Alam

A village with a small harbour and stone quay, Marsa Alam is the ideal base for a fishing holiday. Dokki Shooting Club has a resthouse here and can arrange deep-sea fishing trips. There are also some offshore coral reefs, and diving facilities are available. There is also a nature reserve that stretches from here to Gebel Elba in the South. This is the perfect place to go for uninterrupted peace and quiet, and the fresh fish is unbeatable.

Sharm El Sheik

Also known as holiday paradise, the Sharm el Sheik boasts a warm climate on the Red Sea with many coral reefs. Watersports are hugely popular, especially scuba diving and snorkelling. Sights include Ras Mohamed national park, the diver's paradise, or Mount Sinai, St Catherine's monastery and the coloured canyon. Also worth a visit is Fantasia, the Ali-Baba village near Naama Bay for shops and shows. The old town in Sharm el Sheik provides its visitors with a taste of traditional life with Arab bazaars and local shops. El Sharm Mall, the main shopping street is fringed with cafes and shops. And by night bars and nightclubs become lively in Naama Bay. Sharm el Sheik can provide something for everyone.

Taba

With its five star hotels, Taba is a meeting of borders. It overlooks Jordan, Israel and Saudi Arabia, and Egypt has major plans for this area as a tourism centre. It currently has very good restaurants, bars and beach cafes, and the border can be crossed on foot, with a bus service into Eilat. Taba Heights is a new beach resort community which, when completed, will offer many different activities. The clear blue sea and warm sand make this area an increasingly popular holiday destination, while the friendliness and hospitality of the local people make this a holiday to remember.
