and it's sea view. Within Playa Blanca there are a number of sandy
beaches. The white beach in the very centre of the town, from which Playa
Blanca gets it's name, has been awarded a European 'blue flag' - a tribute
to it's cleanliness. Playa Flamingo, a few minutes walk to the west, is a
very attractive and safe beach suitable for families. For those who like
to wander a little further, of course, there are the Papagayo beaches -
half a dozen beautiful white sandy bays, sheltering between rocky
headlands. Building in this area is prohibited, and the intention is to
keep the whole area as nature created it. Within Playa Blanca there are a
number of sandy beaches. Those who like something a little more energetic
can take a hike inland to the enchanting mountain village of Femés.
Situated 450 metres above sea level, Femés looks down on Playa Blanca and
out across to the neighbouring islands of Fuerteventura and Lobos.
Lanzarote has it's fair share of wonderful sunsets and the view of the
setting sun as seen from this mountain village is a sight worth seeing.
