Holidays in Costa Teguise, Lanzarote

- Costa Teguise is one of Lanzarote’s main tourist resorts.

Situated on the coast in the central part of the island, Costa Teguise is one of Lanzarote’s main tourist resorts. It is only a 20 minute drive from Arrecife Airport and is a convenient place from which to explore the islands tourist and cultural attractions, as well as the northern fishing villages of Arrieta and Orzola. The island’s historic capital of Teguise is a 10 to 15 minute drive away and provides a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Costa Teguise, unless of course you go on a Sunday, when the market is in full swing. Although many of the activities revolve around the beach, with windsurfing in particular being very well catered for, there is much else to do in and around Costa Teguise. Costa Teguise currently has the only golf course on the island — although more are in construction — so this is where you need to head for eighteen holes in the sun all year round.

Holidays in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Spain

Two things are particularly impressive about Playa Blanca - it's coastline and it's sea view. Within Playa Blanca there are a number of sandy beaches. The white beach in the very centre of the town, from which Playa Blanca gets it's name, has been awarded a European 'blue flag' - a tribute to it's cleanliness. Playa Flamingo, a few minutes walk to the west, is a very attractive and safe beach suitable for families. For those who like to wander a little further, of course, there are the Papagayo beaches - half a dozen beautiful white sandy bays, sheltering between rocky headlands. Building in this area is prohibited, and the intention is to keep the whole area as nature created it. Within Playa Blanca there are a number of sandy beaches. Those who like something a little more energetic can take a hike inland to the enchanting mountain village of Femés. Situated 450 metres above sea level, Femés looks down on Playa Blanca and out across to the neighbouring islands of Fuerteventura and Lobos. Lanzarote has it's fair share of wonderful sunsets and the view of the setting sun as seen from this mountain village is a sight worth seeing.

Holidays in Playa De Los Pocillos, Lanzarote

- Popular with families with children who prefer to sleep before dawn.

The purpose built resort of Playa de los Pocillos is, for all intents and purposes, a suburb of the much larger resort of Puerto del Carmen, which is part of the municipal district of Tias along the southern east coast of Lanzarote. Geographically Playa de los Pocillos is approximately 10 miles south of the capital Arrecife, and around 5 miles from the Arrecife International Airport, making it possible for one of the shortest resort transfers on the island. Puerto del Carmen is widely recognised as being the most lively resort on the island, with numerous bars, clubs and restaurants centred around the Centro Atlantico area of the sea front "strip" Avenida de las Playas, and this is certainly the place to make for if you wish to dance 'til dawn. Although less than a mile away from the action, Playa de los Pocillos is however far quieter and more relaxed than its neighbour, which in turn is then reflected in its popularity with families with children who prefer to sleep before dawn.

Puerto Calero is certainly a part of Lanzarote that should not be missed. The Marina is a great place to wander, look at the fabulous boats and generally soak up a bit of the luxury atmosphere that permeates the whole place. You can certainly spend a few hours sat in one of the cafes or restaurants that overlook the marina without even realizing how long you have been there. If you want to do more than just sit, Puerto Calero is the base for a number of water based activites, such as the Catlanza catamaran trips, Submarine excursions and a variety of sport-fishing boats which allow you to try your skill at landing Marlin and Blue-fin Tuna in some of the best and most productive waters you can find. If you prefer being in — rather than on — the water there are a couple of dive schools operating out of the Marina who offer instruction and guided dives from beginner through to advanced levels. The array of shops in Puerto Calero is not vast, but you will find some very nice boutiques alongside souvenir shops which are more upmarket than in the other resorts of Lanzarote.
