The resort is quiet and peaceful and is especially popular with couples. The airport transfer time is around 20 minutes so you have plenty of time to soak up the sun in the resort. The beach in Playa de los Cancajos is very appealing with its fine, dark sands and crystal clear waters. The beach has been awarded with the European Blue Flag for its cleanliness and it is very safe for children. There are many hotels in the resort ranging from 2-5-star and the majority of them offer a half board basis. There are plenty of activities to keep you occupied and one of the most popular activities is hiking. You can hike up to Taburiente National Park which is home to seven volcanoes and the worlds largest volcanic crater which reached 5 miles in diameter. Paragliding and tennis are very popular with tourists as are the many water sports that are on offer. Scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing, fishing and rides on glass-bottomed boats can all be done in Playa de los Cancajos. When snorkelling and diving, you are likely to see various tropical fish and if you are lucky enough, then you may even get to see a turtle. Playa de los Cancajos is home to many fish restaurants. You will find many other cuisines in the resort such as Italian, Chinese, English, American, Indian and Canarian. There are many bars and two clubs in the resort, which is actually the busiest resort in La Palma. There is live music and entertainment as well as cocktails and karaoke, however it is not as lively as it is on other islands such as Tenerife.
