- Costa Ballena - the perfect purpose built beach resort

Costa Ballena is a purpose built beach resort, located just a few kilometres east of Chipiona on the Cádiz section of the Costa de la Luz. The town has been carefully designed so that 62% of its surface area consists of open spaces landscaped with 45,000 trees and shrubs. There are no buildings over three storeys high and the residential zones consist mainly of developments of apartments or town houses with communal gardens, pools and/or tennis courts. There is a range of shops, restaurants, services and sport and fitness facilities. The town is built around an 18-hole golf course (Photo - Costa Ballena Club de Golf) designed by José María Olazabal, and a further 9 holes are currently under construction. There are also opportunities for cycling, riding, bowling and tennis. There are several interesting old towns close by : Chipiona, Rota (photo - Town Hall) and Sanlúcar de Barrameda are within a few kilometres. They are traditional fishing towns with whitewashed town centres and plenty of restaurants and bars serving local produce. Flamenco music is a at the heart of cultural life in this area and there are frequent fiestas and events where you can enjoy the music and the atmosphere.
