Holidays in Sitges are a relatively new thing. However, this charming little seaside town has been attracting visitors for more than a century. Not tourists on late deals or last minute holidays, but creative types drawn by the town's reputation as a hotbed of avant garde art. Today this pretty little corner of the Costa Dorada retains some of its bohemian atmosphere. As a result, while it's got the sun, sea and sand, it's not what you'd call a typical package holiday resort. This is a resort that's a little more exclusive than some others along this stretch of coastline. So if you're looking for cheap holidays, Sitges may not be number one on your hit list. Most of those who travel to Sitges are looking for relaxation rather than riotous nightlife. Focal point of the resort is the pretty, palm-lined promenade, with its cute little tapas bars and seafront restaurants, where the main pastime is people watching. Mind you, if you're looking for a livelier atmosphere, there's always Barcelona just down the road. One of Spain's most stylish cities, it's packed full of shops, bars and restaurants. And if you're into sightseeing, you'll be in heaven with all that superb Gaudi architecture.
