Resort Information for Menorca, spain
Holidays in Arenal Den Castell, Menorca, Spain
- Graced with a magnificent beach and its water sport facilities
The big attraction for most visitors to choose Arenal d'en Castell for
their summer holidays is without doubt the magnificent beach and its
water sport facilities. It is a large nearly circular crescent of fine
golden sand, some say the finest on the whole of Menorca. Along with
other resorts on Menorca, Arenal d'en Castell has a mini land train
running around the town and as far as Na Macaret throughout the day and
well into the night. The resort has two distinct hotels one, the family
orientated Hotel Aguamarin, the other is the Fiesta Castell Playa aimed
at the older couples market. Self catering apartments abound along with
a great choice of bars, restaurants and shops to service them. Although
as with Menorca in general Arenal d'en Castell is first and foremost a
family resort there is plenty to do to keep all occupied.
Holidays in Binibeca, Menorca, Spain.
- if all you are looking for is a beach and somewhere to relax this may be the very place for you
Even by Menorcan standards Binibeca has to be described as being quiet,
and for many perhaps a little too quiet. However, if all you are looking
for is a beach and somewhere to relax this may be the very place for you.
In recognition of the high numbers of visitors on self catering breaks,
the resort does have a number of very well stocked supermarkets selling
the everyday holiday essentials along with a good selection of UK
recognisable branded goods, albeit at slightly higher prices than you
would normally expect to pay back home in the UK. Although for a wider
selection of both designer labels and locally made craft goods you should
seriously consider hiring a car and making the journey into Mahon.
Holidays in Cala Alcaufar, Menorca.
- Cala Alcaufar is rather subdued and so makes for the perfect relaxing break, away from it all.
The picturesque, unspoilt village of Cala Alcaufar looks out over a
beautiful sandy cove to the deep blue lapping waves of the Mediterranean
Sea beyond. It's a measure of how off the beaten track Cala Alcaufar is,
that it only has one restaurant and a cafe bar serving light tapas dishes.
The food is good however, and the prices are reasonable. Nightlife in
Cala Alcaufar is rather subdued and so makes for the perfect relaxing
break, away from it all. Entertainment tends to be centred around the
resort's hotels, a karaoke bar and a disco which only opens in peak
season. Head to Menorca's vibrant capital Mahon for a more lively
nighttime experience.
Holidays in Cala Blanca, Menorca.
- Cala Blanca knew what tourists needed - a shopping centre, perfect beaches, hotels, restaurants and bars. Cala Blanca has it all for a perfect holiday.
Cala Blanca- a name and resort inspired by two stunning white beaches. And
what beaches they are! Soft sloping sand, sheltering in rugged coves,
lapped by a transparent Mediterranean. Not even watersports disturb the
calm. It's all about snorkels, goggles and scuba gear here, with a dive
centre to dish out the goods. Of course, there's always straight forward
sunbathing too. Built in the 1990s, Cala Blanca knew what tourists
needed. A shopping centre selling everything from inflatable dinghys to
dinner ingredients. A few hotels and a selection of villas that add that
special small town feel. Like the Villas Ses Oliveres, which become your
second home on self catering holidays in Cala Blanca. But then, the
beachside bars, restaurants and pubs to take catering off your hands.
Evenings all over Menorca are relaxed. Al fresco dining by the beach and a
pint in a pub is Cala Blanca's scene, or there's always hotel
entertainment. Santandria - so close to Cala Blanca they blur together –
has plenty of eateries and entertainment. But there's nothing quite like a
bbq under the stars by your villa's pool.
Holidays in Cala Galdana, Menorca.
- The resort of Cala Galdana is famous for its beautiful, horseshoe-shaped, gently-shelving sandy beach, framed by cliffs made from limestone and covered in pine trees.
Cala Galdana, or Santa Galdana ('Queen of the Coves'), can be found on
Menorca's South coast on the road from Ferreries. The resort is famous
for its beautiful, horseshoe-shaped, gently-shelving sandy beach, framed
by cliffs made from limestone and covered in pine trees. The water is
fairly shallow and the beach is regarded as safe for swimming, making it
popular with families. The usual beach facilities are available, including
sunbed hire, water-ski and pedalo rental. The beach, bay and views out to
sea do ensure that this resort remains one of Menorca's most beautiful
coves. A large number of restaurants overlook the beach, which can get
very busy at times. Evening entertainment can be found predominantly in
the hotels in the resort, which are also usually open to non-residents.
Holidays in Cala N Blanes, Menorca
- Cala n Blanes is purpose built for every kind of holidaymaker.
The beach is the reason Cala'n Blanes exists. All along Menorca's jagged
west coast there's little coves and inlets protecting tiny pockets of
sand, but Cala'n Blanes beach is easily the best of the lot. Fine sand
fringed with palms and pines. A shallow, settled, kid friendly sea. Topped
off with beach cafes and a diving centre, Cala'n Blanes is purpose built
for every kind of holidaymaker. In Cala'n Blanes, shops sell everything
from the essentials to tourist tack. It's worth the short trip to the
fresh food markets in Cuitadella for that authentic Spanish taste. This
isn't a party town though – so enjoy a beer al fresco by the beach,
listening to the waves below. Or raise a glass of pomada (gin and lemon)
at a thundering summer fiesta celebration.
Holidays in Cala n Bosch, Menorca.
- Cala n Bosch - perfect for families seeking peaceful days and colourful nights.
Busy little Cala n Bosch, in Menorca's sunny southwest is perfect for
families seeking peaceful days and colourful nights - the resort clusters
around a marina, just a few hundred metres from the open sea. With its
impressive yachts and waterside bars, Cala n Bosch feels a little more
upmarket than most Menorcan resorts, but, with cheap holidays to Cala n
Bosch offering an easy week or two in the sun, you'll not have to have
deep pockets, or sleek yachts, to enjoy this popular place. The large
resort centre is home to lively bars, markets and craft stalls, children's
video arcades and excellent restaurants. Catering mostly for families,
Cala n Bosch's evening array of entertainment is never too high spirited,
but can get livelier than many spots along the Menorcan coastline - the
visiting yacht-set see to this, and add a touch of glamour to the cocktail
bars and fish restaurants. Ciutadella , the island's former capital, is a
real treat - and its designer shops and cool, albeit pricey, restaurants
are worth a visit.
Holidays in Cala n Porter, Menorca
- A few minutes walk from the center which has a reasonable selection of restaurants, shops and bars without seeming overcrowded.
Cala n Porter situated on the south coast and is less that 20 minutes from
the airport. A few minutes walk from the center which has a reasonable
selection of restaurants, shops and bars without seeming overcrowded and
is where you will find the road down to the beach or further along the
view point overlooking the bay next to the steps which also lead to the
beach.
Holidays in Cala Santandria, Menorca
- Cala Santandria has all the ingredients for a great summer break.
Sitting around a pretty cove, Cala Santandria has all the ingredients for
a great summer break. Centred around a beautiful sugary-sand beach that
boasts a blue flag award, it's ideal for those who simply want to get away
and unwind in peace and quiet. To start with, the countryside spreads out
in every direction, with winding lanes bordered by flower-filled fields. A
great way to explore the land is to hire a bike and take a gentle cruise.
If that seems too energetic for the kind of holiday you had in mind, head
for the golden sands and stretch out to the sound of lapping waves. Sun
loungers and parasols provide shade here and there's plenty to entertain
you in the way of watersports. You'll find pedalos, windsurfing,
snorkelling and plenty more besides. And if you're feeling a bit peckish,
grab a seat at one of the nearby beach bars. Heading into the town centre,
you'll find a liberal sprinkling of shops where you can pick up a few
necessities, as well as souvenirs. There's also a few charming and
reasonably priced restaurants dotted around. Evening-wise, things are
mainly hotel based, but there are a few bars offering late drinks.
Holidays in Ciutadella, Menorca
- Ciutadella is a stylish place to visit that is well known for sumptuous fish restaurants serving the local catch of the day.
Situated on the west coast of the island, Ciutadella is a stylish place to
visit that is well known for sumptuous fish restaurants serving the local
catch of the day. Ciutadella was Menorca's original capital and the city
oozes history with many sites to visit. Of particular note is Castell Sant
Nicolas, a 17th century defence tower now used as an exhibition gallery
(and also a beautiful vantage point for watching the sun set).
Ciutadella's catedral is another stunning building, originally a mosque
then rebuilt in 1287 when Alfonso III defeated the Moors and claimed
Menorca for christianity. Wherever you go - do it slowly! Ciutadella is
the hub of Menorca's café society, so take time to sit, relax and watch
the world go by.
Holidays in Canutell, Menorca
-
Located on the south east coast, attractive Es Canutells remains unspoilt,
but boasts good facilities, some entertainment, tennis courts and a
children's play area. With a couple of restaurants within a leisurely
stroll, this Minorcan resort is a short drive from San Clemente
village, with its shops, bars and restaurants, and the busier resorts of
Calan Porter, Binibeca and Punta Prima.
Holidays in Es Castell, Menorca
- Imagine the charming harbourside where fishing boats bask on sun-spangled waters. Friendly water's edge restaurants serving succulent fresh seafood.
Imagining holidays in Es Castell is pretty easy. Just visualise a charming harbourside where fishing boats bask on sun-spangled waters. Friendly water's edge restaurants serving succulent fresh seafood. And a gentle vibe that'll massage even the most overworked brains into submission. Then you've pictured what holidays in Es Castell are all about, a lovely plaza lined with Georgian buildings, gardens and cafes. Throw in historical nuggets, like a military museum showcasing the town's past as a British garrison and two 18th century forts. The town overlooks the entrance to Mahon harbour, you can catch boats to admire the capital from the water. If all this wasn't enough, daytime and evening markets come to Es Castell, letting holidaymakers shop for Menorcan ceramics and gifts to their heart's content. And if you run out of things to do, there are still the area's sandy beaches, quaint villages and mysterious 'taula' stones to enjoy.
Holidays in Es Mercadal, Menorca
-
Es Mercadal is in the centre of Menorca. The village is set at the base of Toro Mountain (the island's highest) and a visit to the Virgen del Toro (Minorca's patron saint) Sanctuary is well worthwhile. The village is surprising for its whitewashed houses, quiet streets, and for buildings like the San Martín Renaissance Church, the 18th century well, and the Cap de Cavallería Eco-Museum, which has open-air exhibits and beautiful views. The San Martín fiestas, held in July, fill Es Mercadal with joy and tradition, with the spectacular "jaleo" (where horses dance to music).
Holidays in Playa de Fornells, Menorca
- evening entertainment here is mainly hotel based, however, during the summer months at least, the resort does have a small number of lively bars
The smart and exclusive resort of Playas de Fornells along with its nearest neighbour the traditional fishing village of Fornells, some 3 - 4 kilometres away to the east, are both part of the municipal district of Es Mercadal on the rugged northern coast of Menorca, approximately 30km, or 20 miles north west of the capital Mahon and the international Aeropuerto de Menorca. Being one of the newest resort developments on the island Playas de Fornells has so far remained relatively "undiscovered" by many of the major tour operators and as a result many of the visitors here will be independent travellers who would not therefore have the option of a resort transfer to their chosen accommodation. As with most resorts in Menorca, evening entertainment here is mainly hotel based, however, during the summer months at least, the resort does have a small number of lively bars, but certainly nothing that would ever compare to the popular resorts along the south coast of Majorca.
Holidays in Mahon, Menorca

Holidays in Punta Prima, Menorca
- If all you are looking for is a beach, a couple of hotels and a shop, this may be the very place for you.
The secluded resort of Punta Prima and its nearest neighbour S'Algar are both part of the municipal district of Sant Lluís, on the extreme south east corner of Menorca. Even by Menorcan standards this resort has to be described as being quiet, and for many perhaps a little too quiet. However, if all you are looking for is a beach, a couple of hotels and a shop, this may be the very place for you. One of the first to be awarded the EU Blue Flag for cleanliness and quality, the beach at Punta Prima is sandy, with a cluster of rocks at the eastern end. The white sand gently shelves into the warm shallow waters, creating excellent conditions for swimming and snorkelling. And the warm, gentle winds make it a great place to have a go at windsurfing. Besides the beach, Punta Prima holidays offer up mini golf, tennis, coastal walks and bike rides. Basically everything you would look for in a beach holiday. As one of the oldest holiday destinations in Menorca, Punta Prima is accustomed to the needs of its holidaymakers – you'll find beach bars, souvenir shops and cafes – but it still manages to retain its traditional charm and laid back atmosphere.

Holidays in Son Bou, Menorca
- deal for sun worshippers and watersport enthusiasts
Son Bou has the longest beach in Menorca - nearly 3km of pale golden sand, making it ideal for sun worshippers and watersport enthusiasts. The sandy beach shelves gently into the sea, which is generally safe for swimming. Ocean currents, however, can be strong at times and you should look out for the red and green flags. Behind the beach, on the hill above, the large tourist development has mushroomed and the 'villa-villages' spread westwards into the twin resort of San Jaime. San Jaime, is a purpose built resort and caters very well for family holidays. The beach has several beach bars and a variety of watersports equipment is available to hire - jet skis, pedaloes, windsurfing boards, snorkelling equipment etc. There are a range of bars and restaurants and several supermarkets. Son Bou features one of the island's only discos, otherwise nightlife is relatively low key - based around the restaurants, bars and a few hotels, which offer scheduled entertainment.
